Liquid staking protocol ether.fi has partnered with Plume to launch a dedicated RWA (real-world assets) yield vault, unlocking tokenized real-asset yields for its user base. This move marks ether.fi's first large-scale pivot from purely crypto-native yield sources to institutional-grade, compliance-friendly returns, directly embedded within its existing application interface.
$100 Million Exclusive Allocation
Under the arrangement, ether.fi has exclusively seeded the vault with $100 million. The capital is drawn not from new fundraising but from the protocol's extensive liquidity provider base and the managed capital within existing yield products such as liquid ETH, liquid USD, and liquid BTC. By reallocating these internal resources, ether.fi activates previously idle funds and aggregates smaller contributions into a pool substantial enough to access institutional RWA strategies.
Strong Demand for Low-Risk Institutional Products
An ether.fi representative highlighted the intense market demand for yield instruments that offer institutional-level risk controls with minimal exposure to DeFi protocol risks. To meet this, the vault is deeply integrated into the ether.fi app, allowing users to subscribe to what were previously institutional-only RWA yields without leaving their familiar dashboard. The representative added that prior to this launch, there was a notable gap in tools that could deliver stable returns while isolating contagion risk from DeFi protocols. Plume further noted that ongoing volatility and frequent security incidents in DeFi are significantly accelerating the migration of users toward more stable on-chain yield sources.
Within the ether.fi application, the vault appears as a standalone module. Users can participate with a few clicks, with yields recorded as tokenized vouchers and the underlying asset performance traceable via the Plume network. Recent high-profile DeFi exploits have eroded confidence in yields purely dependent on crypto price fluctuations, making the ether.fi-Plume collaboration a timely institutional-grade refuge for risk-averse capital. For ether.fi users, the RWA channel offers low correlation to native crypto assets, helping to diversify portfolio risk and complementing the protocol's liquid product suite with a non-ETH–denominated return stream.
From an industry perspective, this collaboration is part of a broader trend in which DeFi protocols are actively absorbing traditional financial assets to smooth return curves. It reflects a structural shift from high-volatility native crypto yields toward low-volatility, compliance-grounded real-asset yields, blurring the boundaries between DeFi and TradFi as such products gain wider adoption.
