Background and Core Mission
Recently, the interim executive director of the Ethereum Foundation publicly elaborated on the foundation's mission. She emphasized that the foundation's fundamental task is to ensure the Ethereum network always serves as a truly permissionless, censorship-resistant, privacy-first, and credibly neutral infrastructure. This mission defines all strategic priorities and resource allocation.

Defending Against Systemic Risks
The statement specifically identified four major systemic risks that require vigilance: MEV abuse, staking centralization, privacy gaps, and opaque transaction channels. The foundation will devote more resources to counter these threats and prevent erosion of Ethereum's core values. She stated that only continuous proactive defense can preserve Ethereum's unique advantages.
Driving Long-Term Opportunities
Beyond risk defense, the foundation also outlined several long-term technical directions: quantum-resistant cryptography, self-verifiable protocol stacks, secure scaling, and sovereign digital cash. These directions will ensure Ethereum maintains its leading position over the next decade and beyond, providing a truly autonomous digital economic infrastructure for global users.
