Ethereum Foundation core developer Sina Mahmoodi said on Aug. 18 that he has formally left the organization after more than seven years at EF. Mahmoodi joined the Ethereum Foundation in 2019 after graduating from university and worked across several major technical efforts, including EthereumJS, the TypeScript/JavaScript implementation of Ethereum’s execution layer, eWASM, and Geth, or Go-Ethereum, one of the network’s most important execution-layer clients. In his departure remarks, Mahmoodi said he felt fortunate to work with highly capable and committed colleagues on things he genuinely believed mattered. He said he was especially proud of his work on Geth, describing it as infrastructure that helped Ethereum through difficult periods and became a critical foundation for the broader ecosystem. Mahmoodi also said his conviction in Ethereum has not changed, calling it an open, global settlement layer that does not depend on any single government, company, or center of power, and saying it remains worth building.

Mahmoodi joined the Ethereum Foundation in 2019 after graduating from university. During his time there, he worked on EthereumJS, a TypeScript/JavaScript implementation of Ethereum’s execution layer, eWASM, and Geth. Geth, or Go-Ethereum, is one of Ethereum’s core execution-layer clients.
Mahmoodi said he felt fortunate to work with "some of the smartest and most serious people" on work he truly believed was meaningful. He added that he was especially proud of his work on Geth, saying it helped support Ethereum through difficult periods and became key infrastructure for the network’s large ecosystem.
He also said his belief in Ethereum remains unchanged. Mahmoodi described Ethereum as an open, global settlement layer that does not rely on any single government, company, or center of power, and said it is still worth building.
