The Ethereum Foundation has officially released its Trillion Dollar Security Dashboard, a visual tool displaying the overall security posture of the Ethereum ecosystem. The dashboard covers six key dimensions and aims to support institutional-grade asset custody at scale.
Six Dimensions: From Wallets to Governance
The dashboard breaks down security into: User Experience (UX) — wallet safety, phishing protection, transaction signing risks; Smart Contract Security — audit standards, vulnerability disclosure, formal verification progress; Infrastructure & Cloud Security — node operations, RPC providers, cloud dependency risks; Consensus Protocol — validator centralization, client diversity, staking safety; Monitoring & Incident Response — real-time detection systems and emergency procedures; Social Layer & Governance — regulatory risks, organizational governance, long-term sustainability. Each dimension includes status indicators, risk mitigation steps, and improvement timelines.
1TS Initiative: A World Where Billions Trust Ethereum for Trillion-Dollar Assets
The dashboard is a core output of the 1TS (Trillion Dollar Security) Initiative, co-led by protocol security lead Fredrik Svantes and EF management team member Josh Stark. The initiative's goal is to achieve security levels that enable billions of users to confidently store over $1,000 in assets on-chain, accumulating to trillions in total value. The dashboard provides transparent, real-time tracking of progress toward that ambition.
$220M Security Fund: DAO Hacker Legacy Repurposed
Separately, the Ethereum ecosystem has reactivated over 70,000 ETH left unspent since the 2016 DAO hack, creating a $220 million security fund. Out of that, $13.5 million will be distributed via a DAO mechanism for security research grants. The Foundation is also advancing its Post-Quantum Security program, with a dedicated team and $2 million in research bounties to prepare for future quantum computing threats.
Ethereum currently backs roughly $80 billion in slashable economic security. As the chain's value locked grows, this structured security governance framework is critical to maintaining ecosystem trust.
