NEW YORK, July 24, 2026 – Ethereum Institutional, an independent non-profit organization, today announced its public launch as the dedicated institutional front door for the Ethereum ecosystem. The organization consolidates a year of institutional engagement work led by the Ethereum Foundation’s go-to-market team, housed in an independent entity with sharper mission, broader geographic footprint, and long-term funding. Bitmine Immersion Technologies (NYSE: BMNR), Sharplink (NASDAQ: SBET), and Ethereum co-founder Joe Lubin are anchoring the funding, joined by dozens of individual and institutional contributors.
The launch comes as the world’s largest financial institutions make foundational platform decisions on tokenization, stablecoins, and onchain market infrastructure – decisions that will shape capital markets for decades. Ethereum Institutional provides a credible, neutral counterpart for these institutions to engage with, allowing them to choose the approach that fits each use case while drawing security from Ethereum's robust digital asset settlement layer.
This marks the second major independent steward organization for Ethereum within a week, following Ethlabs – a research and development lab founded by former Ethereum Foundation leaders. Together, Ethlabs advances protocol-layer innovation and core infrastructure, while Ethereum Institutional guides institutions from evaluation to scaled deployment.
The institutional adoption moment is now. Ethereum Mainnet hosts roughly $180 billion in stablecoins, representing about 60% of total stablecoin supply, and roughly two-thirds of all tokenized real-world assets. Leading banks, asset managers, custodians, and market infrastructure providers are actively building on the network. Meanwhile, competing ecosystems have made institutional adoption their commercial priority, each running well-funded business development teams.
Proven Track Record and Geographic Expansion
Ethereum Institutional does not start from scratch. The team has built over 500 institutional relationships covering Tier-1 banks, top-tier asset managers, sovereign institutions, custodians, and market infrastructure providers globally. Through the Institutional Ethereum Forum, the organization brought together more than 150 senior executives representing combined assets under management of approximately $250 trillion.
The organization will operate along five focus areas from day one: Institutional Education and Engagement, Institutional Intelligence, ETH and Ecosystem Marketing, Standards and Best Practices, and Institutional Events. Geographic coverage will expand from New York, London, Hong Kong, and Singapore to include Zurich, Frankfurt, Tokyo, and Abu Dhabi, with dedicated institutional leads embedded in each region.
Founders and Backers Speak
Ethereum co-founder Joe Lubin stated: “Ethereum has become the premier infrastructure for decentralized, verifiable, programmable trust. For more than a decade, builders have worked to make the network more scalable, affordable, usable, while protecting credible neutrality and censorship resistance. This is why it’s the first choice for stablecoin activity, tokenized assets, DeFi, and onchain financial infrastructure. Traditional finance is already onboarding itself to Ethereum’s decentralized rails. Ethereum Institutional will accelerate this next chapter, enabling institutions to engage at scale while maintaining openness and permissionless innovation.”
Bitmine CEO noted the company is deploying excess capital to become the leading Ethereum Treasury firm, using native protocol-level activities like staking and DeFi mechanisms based on its “alchemy of 5%” philosophy. Sharplink CEO highlighted that Ethereum underpins the majority of global stablecoin, tokenized assets, and DeFi settlement, and Sharplink offers public market investors smarter exposure to ETH.
David Walsh, Executive Director of Ethereum Institutional, concluded: “Ethereum’s credible neutrality is a strength, but neutrality without representation can be silence. The ecosystem needs a credible, independent counterpart that financial leaders can call, brief their board, and trust for honest answers. Ethereum Institutional exists to translate institutional requirements into scalable deployments, making Ethereum the foundational layer for institutional finance.”
The Board of Directors includes Lee, Chalom, and Walsh.
