An Ethereum OG whale that took part in the network’s 2015 ICO has bought back 8,630.6 ETH early on Sept. 22, according to on-chain tracking data cited by BlockBeats and monitored by EmberCN. The wallet originally received 38,800 ETH during the ICO period. About six months ago, the whale sold 11,552 ETH at $2,027 each, receiving $23.42 million. In the latest move, the same entity spent $23.726 million to repurchase 8,630.6 ETH at an average entry price of $2,749. Based on EmberCN’s calculation, the round-trip trade resulted in a shortfall of 2,921 ETH, equivalent to about $8.03 million in value. The transaction adds another example of large early Ethereum holders actively rotating positions rather than simply holding dormant balances.
