A new study from merchant services company Total Processing suggests that Ethereum attracted more YouTube video views than Bitcoin over the last 12 months, underscoring how public attention in crypto has extended well beyond price performance alone. According to the report, Ethereum-related videos accumulated 231 million views, while Bitcoin-related videos reached 199.9 million views over the same period.

The findings are notable because Bitcoin delivered a major rally during the timeframe, climbing roughly 700% since the previous April. Even so, Ethereum posted an even stronger gain of around 1,100%, and its video footprint on YouTube appears to have reflected that momentum. The report frames YouTube as an increasingly important channel for measuring crypto awareness, market curiosity, and the spread of narratives around individual digital assets.

Ethereum Led a YouTube Ranking Dominated by BTC and ETH

Total Processing analyzed crypto-focused YouTube content from the last year to determine which assets generated the most audience engagement in terms of views. The results show that Ethereum and Bitcoin dominated the platform by a wide margin. Together, the two assets accounted for the clear majority of views among the leading cryptocurrencies tracked in the study.

After Ethereum’s 231 million and Bitcoin’s 199.9 million, the gap to the next tier was substantial. The company said the top two assets received roughly four times as many views as the third-ranked cryptocurrency. That third spot went to Chainlink (LINK), which generated 45.7 million views since April 2020. Cardano (ADA) followed closely in fourth place with 43 million views.

The ranking suggests that while Bitcoin remains the best-known cryptocurrency globally, Ethereum’s ecosystem, smart contract narrative, and broader relevance to decentralized applications likely helped it capture a larger share of YouTube interest during the measured period. The study did not argue that views directly equate to investment flows, but it clearly presented YouTube engagement as a meaningful indicator of public attention.

Top 10 Crypto Assets by YouTube Views

Beyond the top four, the report listed several other major crypto assets that also attracted significant traffic on the video platform. XRP ranked fifth with around 38.5 million views over the year. It was followed by Litecoin (LTC) at 27.5 million, Uniswap (UNI) at 27.3 million, Binance Coin (BNB) at 25.4 million, Tether (USDT) at 22.8 million, and Polkadot (DOT) with 18.8 million views.

This distribution shows a steep drop after the two leaders, but it also highlights how interest was spread across a broad set of crypto narratives, from payment-oriented assets and exchange tokens to decentralized finance and interoperability projects. Even so, Ethereum and Bitcoin remained in a category of their own in terms of raw visibility.

YouTube’s Growing Role in Crypto Media

Total Processing argued that although traditional media continues to shape the broader public discussion around digital assets, YouTube plays an equally significant role in the crypto ecosystem. That observation aligns with the structure of the market itself: crypto is highly online, fast-moving, and often driven by communities that rely on video explainers, commentary, token analysis, and influencer content to interpret events in real time.

Over the past year, cryptocurrencies saw explosive growth not only in price but also across other measurable dimensions such as onchain activity, social media representation, and trading statistics. In that context, YouTube becomes more than a distribution platform. It acts as a barometer of what retail audiences are paying attention to and which projects are driving discussion.

The report therefore adds another layer to understanding market behavior. Price appreciation may draw attention, but narratives, developer ecosystems, and content creation can amplify that attention in ways visible on social platforms. Ethereum’s lead in YouTube views may reflect precisely that combination.

Study Reviewed 10,000 Videos

To build its ranking, Total Processing said it processed a total of 10,000 YouTube videos focused on the top ten crypto assets included in the study. That gives the report a broad dataset, even if its conclusions remain tied to YouTube as a single platform rather than the entire media landscape.

The company also pointed to examples of how individual creators and specific videos can gain outsized traction in crypto markets. One case cited in the report involved JRNY Crypto, which published a video discussing which altcoins the creator would buy. According to Total Processing, that content coincided with Stormx rising 189.68% in seven days. The study used this example to illustrate the reach and influence that YouTube personalities can have in shaping attention around smaller assets.

That example does not prove causation by itself, but it does reinforce the broader point of the report: YouTube is not just a passive archive of crypto commentary. It is an active arena where narratives spread quickly, investor interest can intensify, and projects may gain visibility at a pace that mirrors the market’s volatility.

What the Findings Suggest

The study’s core takeaway is straightforward: over the last 12 months, Ethereum led all cryptocurrencies in YouTube video views, surpassing Bitcoin despite Bitcoin’s massive market rally. The results point to a period in which Ethereum captured especially strong public interest, both as a price-performing asset and as a broader technological story tied to smart contracts and blockchain applications.

For market participants, the findings offer a useful reminder that crypto attention is multi-dimensional. Price charts matter, but so do search trends, social engagement, creator coverage, and platform-specific audience behavior. In this case, YouTube data indicates that Ethereum held a particularly strong position in the public conversation during the measured period.

More broadly, the report reflects how digital assets are increasingly consumed as media subjects as much as financial instruments. As crypto adoption and speculation continue to expand, metrics like video views may remain an important way to track shifts in attention across competing blockchain networks and tokens.
