Capital B (Euronext Growth Paris: ALCPB), Europe's first and largest Bitcoin treasury company, currently holds 3,139 BTC in reserves and is developing a Bitcoin-backed lending product tailored to the European regulatory climate. CEO Alexandre Laizet said the upcoming instrument draws inspiration from Strategy's STRC and Strive's SATA models but will be designed specifically for the European market.
Product Targets Regulatory Gaps and Surging Demand
Laizet highlighted Europe's high tax burden, security concerns, and regulatory inertia as drivers for demand in innovative digital products. Capital B's product will be backed entirely by the company's own Bitcoin holdings, aiming to deliver double-digit annual returns while keeping risk volatility below double digits. He stressed that current regulations do not adequately address the needs of the digital era, prompting the company to seek a tailored solution for European investors.
Interest in digital lending products has surged tenfold year-over-year, according to Laizet (specific figures not provided). Capital B plans to meet this demand with a new instrument designed for Europe-based investors seeking alternative returns.
Risk Management and Compliance
Laizet acknowledged that the upcoming product carries risks, including Bitcoin price depreciation, operational setbacks, custody issues, and counterparty risks. The company only partners with regulated banks to mitigate these. Capital B is backed by early Bitcoin adopter Adam Back and venture firm Fulgur Ventures.
Ambitious Targets: 15,000 BTC by 2027, 1% of Supply by 2033
Capital B's roadmap targets 15,000 BTC in reserves by the end of 2027, with a longer-term goal of holding 1% of the total Bitcoin supply by 2033. The lending product is seen as a key component of this balance sheet expansion. Laizet cited Strategy as a comparable example, noting that Strategy recently sold 32 BTC to pay STRC dividends before acquiring another 1,587 BTC. No official launch timeline for Capital B's product has been announced.
