U.S.-listed spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) snapped a nine-day inflow streak on Monday, April 27, reporting a combined net outflow of $263.18 million — a notable shift in sentiment after more than a week of consistent demand. The withdrawals were spread across five funds, indicating a coordinated pause rather than an isolated move.
Fidelity, Grayscale Lead Outflows
Fidelity's FBTC was the hardest hit, losing $150.40 million on the day. Grayscale's GBTC followed with $46.63 million in outflows, while Ark & 21Shares' ARKB saw $43.30 million withdrawn. Smaller but significant redemptions were recorded for VanEck's HODL ($14.11 million) and Bitwise's BITB ($8.75 million). BlackRock's IBIT, the largest Bitcoin ETF by assets under management, remained flat with zero net flows.
Despite the negative flows, trading activity remained robust. Total trading volume across Bitcoin ETFs reached $1.93 billion, underscoring ongoing investor engagement. The segment's net assets closed at $101.23 billion.
Ether ETFs Also Under Pressure
Ether ETFs mirrored the cautious tone, logging a net outflow of $50.48 million. Fidelity's FETH led the decline with $48.43 million in outflows, while BlackRock's ETHA posted $13.81 million outflows. However, BlackRock's ETHB stood out as a bright spot, attracting $11.76 million in inflows and partially offsetting the broader weakness. Ether ETF total trading volume stood at $523.64 million, with net assets of $13.53 billion.
XRP and Solana ETFs See No Activity
Activity was notably muted elsewhere. XRP ETFs recorded zero flows, maintaining net assets of $1.06 billion. Solana ETFs followed a similar trend with no inflows or outflows, leaving net assets at $861.70 million.
Market Context: A Pause or Reversal?
Prior to Monday's reversal, Bitcoin ETFs had attracted $824 million in inflows over the previous week, with BlackRock's IBIT dominating the inflows. The abrupt halt suggests that the market is reassessing short-term positioning after a strong run. The size and breadth of outflows across multiple issuers could indicate profit-taking or a return to caution as investors weigh macroeconomic and crypto-specific catalysts.
For now, the ETF market remains active but selective. The coming sessions will reveal whether Monday's pullback is a brief interruption or the start of a broader realignment.
