Other participating investors included 359 Capital, Parable and Play Time. The company was founded by former Nvidia researcher Shijia Liao. According to TechCrunch, Liao started the project after finding existing AI synthetic voice products lacking in expressiveness, then trained the first voice generation model on a single GPU and open-sourced it.
