Social-first on-chain trading platform fomo said it has acquired proprietary software and intellectual property developed by on-chain data aggregation and infrastructure company Mobula, with part of the Mobula team set to join fomo as it builds its own data capabilities. The deal comes as fomo reported sharp operating growth since early July: total users have doubled to more than 1.9 million, daily new users have topped 30,000, and monthly active users in August exceeded 1.2 million. The company also said its iOS App Store ranking in the finance category reached as high as No. 3. On the business side, fomo said trading volume rose from $500 million in June to $1.5 billion in July, and August is on track for more than $2.8 billion in monthly volume and roughly $17 million in monthly revenue. Co-founder and CEO Paul Erlanger said the acquisition gives the company greater control over its infrastructure as it scales. Mobula founder Sacha Marcus, CTO Sacha Delhoux, and infrastructure lead Cyril Conan will join fomo’s engineering team.
