Franklin Templeton's Tokenized ETF $USPXx Goes Live on Mantle
Franklin Templeton's tokenized U.S. Equity Index ETF (USPX), traded under the symbol $USPXx, has officially gone live on the Mantle network. According to Mantle's official announcement on social media, this represents one of the first on-chain venues to distribute the ETF token. Issued by xStocksFi, the token is now tradable 24/7 on Fluxion, a decentralized exchange built on Mantle.
The announcement highlighted that this tokenized product represents "a ~$2B slice of the U.S. equity market, now a swap away." This means that exposure to the U.S. stock market, traditionally accessible only through conventional financial channels, can now be swapped rapidly and seamlessly on-chain, significantly lowering cross-border and entry barriers.
On-Chain Access to a $2 Billion U.S. Equity Slice
Mantle, as a Layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum, provides high-performance infrastructure for DeFi applications. The launch of this tokenized ETF underscores Mantle's leading role in attracting traditional financial assets to the blockchain. Integration with Fluxion ensures that users can trade the token in a permissionless environment at any time, with liquidity managed automatically by smart contracts.
xStocksFi, the issuer, specializes in tokenizing traditional securities. Its collaboration with Franklin Templeton allows the USPX ETF — which tracks the U.S. stock market — to circulate on blockchain in the form of ERC-20 tokens. The introduction of $USPXx offers crypto investors a compliant instrument directly linked to the U.S. equity market while preserving the openness and composability of DeFi.
Distribution and Trading: The Roles of Fluxion and xStocksFi
This launch represents another important case of convergence between traditional finance and decentralized finance. Through tokenization, the USPX ETF is no longer confined to traditional exchange trading hours; it can be traded around the clock like any crypto asset. Fluxion, as the DEX on Mantle, provides initial liquidity pools for $USPXx, allowing users to swap directly through its interface.
Mantle's team stated that their goal is to become the go-to network for bringing traditional assets on-chain, and the deployment of USPXx will further push institutional-grade products into the Web3 ecosystem. As more tokenized ETF products emerge, on-chain trading varieties will become more diverse, offering investors a richer set of asset allocation choices.
The success of this initiative could encourage other asset managers to explore tokenizing their funds, accelerating the trend of tokenization across the financial industry. By combining the liquidity and accessibility of decentralized exchanges with the regulatory compliance of traditional ETFs, $USPXx sets a precedent for future hybrid financial instruments.
