FTX’s bankruptcy estate said on July 17 that its fifth round of creditor distributions will begin on July 31, 2026, with about $900 million set to be paid out.
According to an official FTX announcement, the distribution covers eligible creditors in both the Convenience and Non-Convenience classes who completed pre-distribution requirements before the June 16 record date.
Payments will start on July 31 and may take one to three business days
Creditors will receive funds through their selected distribution service provider — BitGo, Kraken or Payoneer. The estate said payments should arrive within one to three business days starting from July 31.
To qualify for this round, creditors had to complete KYC verification, submit tax forms and finish onboarding with a distribution service provider. Those who had not completed these steps by June 16 will not be included in the fifth distribution and will need to wait for a later round.
Dotcom and U.S. customers both reach 105% cumulative recovery
The payout rate in this round varies by claim class.
- Dotcom customers, meaning former users of FTX’s international platform, will receive 9% in this round, bringing cumulative recovery to 105%.
- U.S. customers, meaning US.FTX users, will receive 5%, also bringing cumulative recovery to 105%.
- General unsecured claims and digital asset loan claims will each receive 3%, taking cumulative recovery to 103%.
The estate said cumulative recovery above 100% reflects a rebound in crypto asset prices during the bankruptcy process, along with the recovery of part of the misappropriated funds, allowing payouts to exceed creditors’ original claim amounts.
Later distribution schedule has not been announced
FTX’s bankruptcy estate has not yet disclosed the timing or size of distributions after the fifth round. ABMedia reported that the current $900 million round, together with the first four rounds, makes the case one of the largest crypto bankruptcy distributions so far.
