FxPro has rolled out one of the most aggressive pricing changes in the retail brokerage sector this year: zero spreads on flagship cryptocurrency and equity index CFDs for clients using its Raw+ account. Spreads on Standard accounts have been slashed by as much as 80%.

What Zero Spreads Cover

The zero-spread model applies to Bitcoin CFDs, Ethereum CFDs, and major equity index CFDs including the Dow Jones and Nasdaq 100. All trades are executed on MT4, MT5, and the FxPro app. The broker states that deep liquidity backs the new pricing, allowing both small and large orders to access the quoted spreads. For high-frequency traders and scalpers, the reduction in transaction costs can be substantial over thousands of trades.

Zero Spread Doesn't Mean Free Trading

A spread is the difference between bid and ask prices — a primary cost of opening and closing positions. Zero spreads do not mean trading is free; instead, the broker replaces spread revenue with an explicit commission. This gives traders transparent fees and prices that reflect the underlying market more closely. Scalpers, algorithmic traders and day traders benefit most from the lower entry and exit costs, while swing traders and long-term investors see a more modest impact due to lower trade frequency.

Who Benefits Most

The biggest winners are traders executing large numbers of daily transactions. For high-frequency strategies, transaction costs pile up quickly. Lower spreads can therefore have a greater effect on performance than for those who hold positions over longer periods. FxPro's move is clearly aimed at high-volume clients and professional-style retail traders who measure costs in fractions of a pip.

Institutional Pricing Goes Retail

Traditionally, institutional desks access raw market pricing with separate commissions, while retail clients pay wider spreads that embed the broker's compensation. That gap has narrowed as electronic trading infrastructure improves and competition intensifies. Jakub Soltys, Head of Execution at FxPro, said: “By bringing spreads down to zero on our flagship Raw+ account, we are directly responding to the trading community's demand for ultra-low-cost market access. We are removing friction so traders can focus purely on market opportunity with institutional-style pricing.”

Execution Quality Matters Beyond Headline Spreads

Experienced traders know that zero spreads alone don't guarantee low total cost. Execution quality depends on latency, liquidity depth, slippage, order rejection rates, and price consistency during volatility. A broker with zero spreads but poor execution may effectively cost more than one with slightly wider spreads and reliable fills. Institutional traders evaluate total execution cost, not just the spread line.

Competitive Landscape and Risks

The pricing overhaul comes as CFD brokers invest heavily in technology, execution infrastructure, AI tools, multi-asset products, and institutional-grade models. Cutting spreads is a direct way to attract active traders without changing the core offering. However, lower spreads do not lower trading risk. Crypto and index CFDs remain leveraged products with rapid price movements. Even with zero spreads, traders are exposed to market volatility, overnight financing, commissions, and leverage. Less experienced traders should not confuse lower execution costs with lower investment risk.

FxPro's move signals that the next phase of brokerage competition will focus less on product breadth and more on delivering the lowest total cost of trading without compromising execution reliability.
