Gate has introduced a new trading product, event contracts, on Gate App v8.28.5, giving users a simpler way to take short-term positions on crypto price direction without using leverage or managing margin settings. The first batch covers BTC and ETH across four time windows: 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 1 hour, and 4 hours. Each contract is tied to whether the asset moves up or down over a specified period, and positions can also be traded before expiry. The product uses a probability-based pricing model, with each contract priced between 0.01 USDT and 0.99 USDT. Gate said a price of 0.65 USDT reflects an implied market expectation of about 65% for that outcome. Minimum trade size is 1.5 USDT. Winning contracts settle at 1 USDT each when the event ends, with no settlement fee, while losing contracts expire worthless. Gate is also running a launch campaign starting at 10:00 on July 21 (UTC+8), with total rewards worth $50,000. The campaign includes first-trade loss compensation, profit rewards, and volume-based incentives.

Digital asset trading platform Gate has officially launched a new product called event contracts. The product is built around directional price calls, allowing users to trade by judging whether assets such as BTC and ETH will move up or down over a set period, without dealing with leverage or margin settings. Event contracts are now live on Gate App v8.28.5 through a dedicated section on the futures page.

First rollout covers BTC and ETH across short-term windows

The initial launch supports BTC and ETH and offers several trading durations: 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 1 hour, and 4 hours. Each event is tied to the direction of the underlying asset during a specified time window, and users only need to choose bullish or bearish to take part.

Once an event ends, the system settles the result automatically based on the actual outcome. Users can also buy or sell positions before expiration as market prices change, giving them a way to lock in gains or manage risk without waiting for final settlement.

Probability pricing ranges from 0.01 USDT to 0.99 USDT per contract

Gate said the product uses a probability-based pricing model. Each contract is priced between 0.01 USDT and 0.99 USDT, and the price reflects the market’s expected probability of that outcome. A contract priced at 0.65 USDT, for example, implies an estimated 65% chance that the event will occur.

The minimum trade amount is 1.5 USDT, which lowers the entry threshold and lets users choose different pricing levels based on their own market view.

No leverage, no margin calls, no forced liquidation

Compared with traditional contract products, event contracts do not offer leverage and do not involve additional margin requirements or forced liquidation. A user’s maximum loss is limited to the amount paid to buy the contract.

If the final result matches the user’s call, the winning contract settles at 1 USDT per share after the event ends, and the platform does not charge a settlement fee. If the call is wrong, the contract’s value falls to zero.

Launch campaign starts July 21 with $50,000 in rewards

Gate is also rolling out a launch promotion for the product. The campaign begins at 10:00 on July 21 (UTC+8), with total rewards worth $50,000. It includes three incentive categories: compensation for losses on a first order, profit rewards, and trading-volume incentives.

Users who register and trade event contracts will be eligible for the related rewards, according to the announcement.

Company profile and product positioning

Gate said demand has been rising for lighter and easier-to-understand trading tools as digital asset trading scenarios expand. The company described event contracts as a way to replace more complex derivatives logic with a simple directional judgment on price while keeping the competitive market element of the product.

According to the information included in the release, Gate was founded in 2013 and its founder and CEO is Dr. Han. The platform said it has more than 58 million users, supports trading in more than 4,800 crypto assets and more than 12,500 stock assets, and also covers TradFi assets including metals, stocks, indices, foreign exchange, and commodities. Gate added that it has achieved 100% proof of reserves and has built out products and ecosystem lines including Gate Wallet, Gate Ventures, and Gate for AI Agent.
