Gate founder and CEO Dr. Han used the latest episode of the Gatecast podcast to lay out the thinking behind Gate Money and where the product is headed next. He said the company is extending capabilities built over years in trading into asset management and everyday payments, with the goal of reaching a broader user base. A key target, he said, is to double Gate Money users within the next one to two years. According to Dr. Han, the product is built on Gate’s existing trading infrastructure, institutional client base, and market-making liquidity, which support conversions across multiple asset types. He also pointed to the company’s global licensing footprint and its partnerships with banks and payment networks as the basis for fund transfers and consumer spending use cases. In his example, Gate Money could make it possible to "buy coffee with stocks," showing how assets may be used beyond investment alone. He also said that in eligible regions, users can open bank accounts in their own names, use familiar payment methods, and rely on blockchain rails for transfers, while idle funds can be placed into yield products. Looking ahead, he also discussed the prospect of AI Agents assisting with asset allocation and fund management around the clock.

According to the latest episode of the Gatecast podcast, Gate founder and CEO Dr. Han outlined the product vision and future roadmap for Gate Money, saying the platform is targeting a doubling of its user base within the next one to two years.

Extending from trading into wealth management and daily payments

Dr. Han said Gate is taking experience built over many years in trading and applying it to asset management and everyday payment use cases in an effort to reach a broader group of users. In his description, Gate Money brings together functions tied to holding, conversion, value enhancement, and payments, linking different kinds of assets with day-to-day spending needs.

He used the example of "buying coffee with stocks" to illustrate how assets could be used for consumption rather than only for investment.

What supports the Gate Money model

Dr. Han said Gate’s technology systems, institutional client base, and market-making liquidity, all developed through its trading business, give the platform the ability to support conversions across multiple asset classes. He added that Gate Money also relies on the company’s global licensing footprint and its partnerships with banks and payment networks to support fund transfers and consumer payment applications.

Together, those capabilities form the operating foundation of Gate Money and allow the platform to reduce conversion and fund-transfer costs across different usage scenarios.

Bank accounts, transfers, and yield products

In eligible regions, users can open bank accounts under their own names and continue using familiar methods for receiving and sending funds, while the underlying transfers are handled through blockchain technology. Idle funds can also be placed into yield products for value enhancement, according to Dr. Han.

AI Agent use cases were also discussed

Looking ahead, Dr. Han also shared his view on how AI Agents could assist with asset allocation and fund management on a 24/7 basis. As investing, wealth management, and daily payments move closer together, Gate Money will keep expanding the range of real-world uses for different asset types and push Gate’s services into more everyday scenarios.
