Gate has rolled out a stock copy trading feature, saying it is among the first crypto platforms globally to support copy trading for equities. After updating the Gate app to version V8.29.0 or later, users can enter the stock copy trading section and follow professional traders with one tap across U.S. stocks, Hong Kong stocks, Korean stocks and ETFs. The feature lets users review key trader metrics including return performance, historical drawdown and number of followers before choosing a lead trader. Gate said the system uses a proportional replication model that calculates positions dynamically based on the ratio of available assets between the lead trader and the follower, allowing buy orders, partial sells and full exits to be mirrored. Gate also said the product supports fractional share trading with a minimum of 0.01 share, runs 24/7, and uses a high-water mark, or HWM, profit-sharing model. Qualified lead traders can apply to join and earn up to 10% in profit sharing. The company said its broader stock trading system now covers more than 12,500 stock and ETF instruments, including over 10,000 U.S. stocks and ETFs, more than 1,500 Hong Kong stocks and more than 1,000 Korean stocks.

Gate has officially launched a stock copy trading feature, saying it is among the first crypto platforms globally to support copy trading for equities. The product brings the copy trading model into the stock market, allowing users who update the Gate app to V8.29.0 or later to follow professional traders with one tap across U.S. stocks, Hong Kong stocks, Korean stocks and the full range of ETFs.

Users can compare trader metrics before following

In the stock copy trading section, users can review core data points such as trader returns, historical drawdown and follower count, then choose a lead trader based on their own investment preferences.

Gate said the system uses a proportional replication mechanism. Positions are calculated dynamically according to the ratio of available assets between the follower and the lead trader, with the aim of closely mirroring the trader’s stock holdings. Buy orders, partial sell orders and full liquidation actions can all be copied.

Fractional shares start at 0.01 share

The company said the feature supports fractional share trading, with users able to join from as little as 0.01 share. That lowers the entry threshold for higher-priced stocks. Through proportional copy trading, users of different capital sizes can take part in opportunities tied to names such as Apple, NVIDIA, Tencent and Samsung.

Gate also said the product runs 24/7 and is not constrained by the opening and closing hours of traditional stock markets, giving users more flexibility in managing global equity strategies.

High-water mark profit sharing applies

For monetization, Gate said the stock copy trading product uses a high-water mark, or HWM, profit-sharing mechanism. Profit sharing is triggered only after a user’s cumulative net profit exceeds its previous peak. During a loss period, lead traders do not receive a profit split. They can earn again only after helping users recover losses and generate new profits.

Qualified professional traders can apply to become stock lead traders and earn as much as 10% in profit sharing by sharing their trading strategies. Gate said the platform supports that process through data display, strategy management and user-matching functions, with the goal of aligning the interests of lead traders and followers over a longer period.

Integrated with VIP fees and a broader stock trading system

Gate said its stock trading system has also been connected to the platform’s VIP fee structure. Users whose holdings meet the relevant tier can access dedicated trading fees and VIP service benefits, which the company said are designed for both high-frequency traders and long-term investors.

According to Gate, the platform has built a stock trading system covering global equity markets and now supports more than 12,500 stock and ETF instruments, including more than 10,000 U.S. stocks and ETFs, more than 1,500 Hong Kong stocks and more than 1,000 Korean stocks. Under a unified account structure, users can invest in global equities with USDT and access services including fractional share trading, stock dividends, cross-broker stock transfers for U.S. and Hong Kong stocks, stock splits and reverse splits.

App access is live, web version is coming

Users can access the feature in the app through “Copy Trading” and then “Stocks.” Gate said the feature is available on app version V8.29.0 and above, while the web version of stock copy trading will launch later.

In the article, Gate said it was founded in 2013 and that its founder and CEO is Dr. Han. The company said it has more than 58 million users and supports trading in 4,800+ crypto assets and 12,500+ stock assets, covering TradFi assets such as metals, stocks, indices, foreign exchange and commodities. It also said it was the first in the industry to achieve 100% proof of reserves and that its broader ecosystem includes Gate Wallet, Gate Ventures and Gate for AI Agent.
