Odaily reported, citing CoinDesk, that Bitcoin mining company GoMining has announced the launch of its payment protocol, GoBTC Pay. Alongside the launch, the company has opened an SDK and API, giving merchants a direct way to integrate a Bitcoin payment system for everyday goods and services settlement.
Direct Bitcoin Payment Access for Merchants
GoBTC Pay is designed around merchant settlement on the Bitcoin network. By making its SDK and API available, GoMining is allowing merchants and related service providers to connect the protocol to their own systems, rather than limiting the payment process to a closed or single-use environment. The plan is described as a direct competitor to the payment infrastructure operated by Block, formerly known through Square.
The distinction emphasized by GoMining is the settlement asset. Unlike platforms such as Square, which typically convert merchant-side settlement into fiat currency, GoMining says the GoBTC Pay process is settled in Bitcoin throughout and does not rely on default fiat conversion. In the company’s framing, the payment route remains centered on Bitcoin itself, including the final merchant settlement layer.
Built on Stratum V2 With a 0.2% Fee
According to GoMining, merchants using GoBTC Pay can complete transaction settlement on the Bitcoin network, with an average confirmation time of about 12 hours. The system runs on GoMining’s Stratum V2 mining protocol, linking the settlement process to the mining infrastructure described by the company.
GoMining also said the system’s transaction fee is about 0.2%. That fee is divided proportionally between wallet providers and miners. The announcement places GoMining beyond its role as a Bitcoin mining company and into payment protocol infrastructure, while the details disclosed so far focus on the protocol launch, open developer interfaces, Bitcoin-denominated settlement, confirmation timing, and fee-sharing structure.
