Precious Metals and Oil Markets Diverge Sharply
According to the latest Gate market data, precious metals showed strong performance. Gold prices climbed to $4,186.42 per ounce, up 1.15% intraday. Silver outperformed, rising to $66.461 per ounce, surging 4.88% intraday. In contrast, the oil market experienced a heavy sell-off. WTI crude fell 4.62% to $74.99 per barrel, while Brent crude dropped 3.68% to $79.04 per barrel, creating a clear divergence between precious metals and crude oil.
Volatility Indexes and Forex Markets Stable
In crypto volatility, BVIX (BTC Volatility Index) stood at 41.7, down 1.14% intraday, while EVIX (ETH Volatility Index) was at 56.15, down 0.44%. Both indexes edged lower, indicating a slight contraction in market volatility. Forex markets showed limited movement: USD/CNH was flat at 6.78001, and USD/JPY rose 0.39% to 161.843.
Global equity indices mostly rose. The Euro Stoxx 50 (EUSTX50) gained 0.57% to 6,330.41 points; the UK FTSE 100 (UK100) rose 1.02% to 10,430.6 points; the German DAX 40 (GER40) added 0.66% to 25,102.1 points. Three major European indexes all closed higher.
