A regulatory filing by SpaceX reveals that Google (GOOG.O) has entered into a multi-year cloud services contract, committing to pay $920 million every month for computing power. The agreement, which extends through June 2029, covers a suite of hardware that includes approximately 110,000 Nvidia GPUs, CPUs, memory modules, and other components.
Payments are scheduled to begin in October and continue monthly until the contract's end. The filing notes that the supplied computing capacity will ramp up ahead of September, with correspondingly lower fees during the initial phase before settling at the full $920 million monthly rate once the full GPU fleet is deployed.
Delivery Guarantees and Termination Windows
The deal contains hard delivery milestones to protect Google's interests. If SpaceX fails to hand over the contracted number of GPUs by September 30, 2026, Google reserves the right to terminate the agreement, subject to a one-month grace period. This clause ensures that the hyperscale buyer can walk away if its infrastructure partner misses a critical deadline.
Additionally, either party can terminate the contract with 90 days' written notice, injecting flexibility into what is otherwise a long-term financial commitment. The scale of the arrangement—$920 million per month over roughly four years—underscores the fierce competition among tech giants to lock in advanced GPU clusters, with SpaceX leveraging its growing ground-station and satellite-linked infrastructure to become a significant player in the commercial cloud computing supply chain.
