Grayscale Investments added 174,000 Litecoin to its trust in the past month, bringing total holdings to 1.44 million LTC worth over $248 million. Despite the massive accumulation, LTC price remained unresponsive, likely due to OTC purchases delaying supply shock.

According to reports, Grayscale Investments added 174,000 LTC to its Litecoin Trust in the past month, pushing its total holdings to 1.44 million tokens valued at approximately $248 million. This haul represents about 80% of all Litecoin mined globally during the same period.

Why No Price Rally?

Despite the large acquisition, LTC’s price has not seen a significant pump. Messari data shows that the altcoin only briefly exceeded $200 between February 12 and 22, before dropping back below that level. At the time of writing, it traded just above $190. On Twitter, users questioned the lack of price reaction. The Litecoin team responded: “Large orders like these are usually purchased through an OTC desk to avoid immediate market impact. Some speculate the supply shock may be delayed.” However, skepticism remains among some investors.

Comparison with ETH and BTC

During the same period, Grayscale also added over 243,000 ETH, bringing its total ETH holdings to 3.17 million (valued at ~$4.86 billion). In contrast, only 7,169 BTC were added to Grayscale’s Bitcoin Trust, totaling 655,640 BTC. Unlike Litecoin, Bitcoin and Ethereum prices have shown more correlation with Grayscale’s accumulation.

Analysts suggest that Litecoin’s muted price action may be due to market pre-pricing of the news or a delayed supply shock effect. Some supporters remain confident that a rally is imminent.
