Grayscale's Sui ETF is set to debut on NYSE Arca tomorrow (July 24) under the ticker GSUI. The launch follows the SEC's receipt of Amendment No. 3 to the Grayscale Sui Trust's Form S-1 registration statement just last week, marking the first single-altcoin ETF to reach the trading stage.
SEC Amendment Paves Way
On February 17, Grayscale filed Amendment No. 3 to its S-1 for the Grayscale Sui Trust. While amendments are routine in ETF approvals, the proximity to the listing date suggests the product has cleared critical regulatory reviews. The fund passively holds SUI tokens, aiming to track the asset's value minus fees and expenses. Investors gain price exposure through brokerage accounts without managing private wallets.
Staking as a Differentiator
The fund's tokens may participate in Sui network staking, generating rewards that historically ranged between 1.7% and 3.3% annually. These rewards flow into the trust and could enhance fund value. However, the product is not registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940, offering less protection than traditional mutual funds or ETFs. It also carries high volatility inherent to crypto assets.
Wave of Altcoin ETF Filings Hits SEC
Spot ETFs for Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and XRP are already trading in the U.S. Reports indicate over 100 ETF filings for 35 digital assets are pending at the SEC. The next batch likely includes ADA, AAVE, DOT, AVAX, CRO, SUI, SEI, and ZEC, with decisions expected by March 27. Some filings propose staking features, which would be a first for U.S. ETF markets.
SUI Price Holds Key Support at $0.971
SUI trades around $0.978, up 0.79% in 24 hours, slightly outperforming a flat market. Volume dropped over 20%, suggesting weak conviction. Price is consolidating near the 30-day moving average at $0.971. Holding above that support could lead to a test of the psychological $1.00 level. A breakout above $1.00 on high volume would strengthen bullish momentum. On the downside, a break below $0.971 opens the path to $0.955 support.
