Greenidge Generation Holdings Inc. has expanded its bitcoin mining footprint with a new facility in Mississippi that officially went live on July 1, 2024. The site currently houses 2,400 bitcoin miners, and the company expects to increase capacity further in the coming months.

Mississippi site adds new growth capacity

Greenidge said it acquired the 12-acre Mississippi property earlier this year and quickly converted it into an operating mining site using its proprietary Greenidge Pod X infrastructure. The facility currently has 8.5 MW of power capacity, while the company aims to secure an additional 25 MW over the next 12 months to support future expansion.

According to the company, the Mississippi launch is part of a broader strategy to strengthen its presence across multiple locations. The move gives Greenidge another operating base as it continues building out its mining network in North America.

Pod X plays a central role

Greenidge described the recently launched Pod X as a key part of the expansion. The system is designed to optimize temperature management, which the company says can improve miner uptime and extend hardware life. Greenidge also argued that the introduction of Pod X places it among a limited number of global manufacturers capable of delivering large-scale mining infrastructure solutions.

Company now operates four mining facilities

With the Mississippi operation online, Greenidge now runs four bitcoin mining facilities across the U.S. and Canada, with a combined power capacity of 122 MW and roughly 8,000 miners. The company added that it is also exploring more opportunities to develop, acquire, lease, or sell properties as part of its long-term growth strategy.

CEO Jordan Kovler said Greenidge has made substantial progress in transforming its business over the past 12 months, adding that the rollout of Pod X marks an important inflection point for the company’s long-term trajectory.
