Hashdex said it will close and liquidate the Hashdex Bitcoin ETF, its U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund, which has about $14.7 million in assets under management. The fund is set to stop trading and be delisted after the market closes on Aug. 17. Shareholders who still hold the ETF are expected to receive a cash distribution around Aug. 28, after the fund sells its remaining Bitcoin holdings.
The firm said that once the final trading day passes, the ETF will liquidate the rest of its Bitcoin position and then limit its activities to winding up the fund, preserving asset value, paying liabilities and distributing remaining assets to shareholders. Hashdex said it reviewed several factors before deciding on the liquidation, including the fund’s asset size, trading liquidity, operating costs, investor interest and where it fits within the company’s broader product lineup. The company added that it still manages more than $200 million in investment products for U.S. investors.
