Franklin Templeton has partnered with Hong Kong-licensed crypto exchange HashKey Exchange to introduce its tokenized money market fund, grBENJI, to the Asian market. The product has gone live on the HashKey Earn channel and invests mainly in U.S. government money market instruments and U.S. dollar cash assets. Access is currently limited to eligible professional investors because of local regulatory requirements, leaving retail users out for now. The two firms framed the move as part of a broader push into tokenized real-world assets. Franklin Templeton’s digital assets executive Chetan Karkhanis said the partnership could deepen over time and expand beyond tokenized money market funds into other tokenized products, using HashKey Exchange’s multi-jurisdiction platform spanning Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Dubai and Bermuda. HashKey Exchange BG CEO Ru Haiyang said the listing is aimed at growing institutional demand for compliant RWA yield solutions. The launch also fits Franklin Templeton’s recent digital asset activity in Asia. The input states that the company introduced Hong Kong’s first tokenized money market fund in November 2025 under the city’s “Fintech 2030” vision. Data cited from RWA.xyz shows the global RWA market reached $38.2 billion as of Aug. 23, with tokenized U.S. Treasuries accounting for $15.6 billion.

Franklin Templeton has partnered with HashKey Exchange, a licensed cryptocurrency exchange in Hong Kong, to roll out its tokenized money market fund in Asia, extending the asset manager’s digital asset push in the region.

In a statement released Monday, HashKey Exchange said its HashKey Earn channel has officially listed the Franklin OnChain U.S. Government Liquidity Fund, or grBENJI. The fund invests mainly in U.S. government money market instruments and U.S. dollar cash assets.

Because of local regulatory requirements, the fund is currently available only to eligible professional investors. Retail investors cannot participate at this stage.

Executives point to broader tokenized product plans

Chetan Karkhanis, senior vice president of digital assets client business at Franklin Templeton, said the firm expects to deepen the partnership over time by using HashKey Exchange’s multi-jurisdiction platform across Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Dubai and Bermuda. He said the product lineup could expand beyond tokenized money market funds into other tokenized offerings.

Ru Haiyang, chief executive officer of HashKey Exchange BG, said bringing the Franklin OnChain U.S. Government Liquidity Fund, grBENJI, to the platform’s wealth channel directly addresses rising institutional demand for compliant real-world asset, or RWA, yield solutions. He added that the partnership links traditional finance with secure and compliant on-chain infrastructure and sets a new benchmark for transparency and capital market innovation in the region.

Asia has become a key part of Franklin Templeton’s digital asset effort

The move follows a series of digital asset initiatives by Franklin Templeton in Asia. According to the input, the company launched Hong Kong’s first tokenized money market fund, the Franklin OnChain U.S. Government Money Fund, in November 2025 in response to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority’s “Fintech 2030” vision.

RWA market data cited in the report

The expansion also reflects the rapid growth of tokenized real-world assets. Data from on-chain tracking platform RWA.xyz shows the global RWA market had reached $38.2 billion as of Aug. 23 this year, up from $20.6 billion a year earlier.

Within that total, tokenized U.S. Treasuries accounted for $15.6 billion, making them one of the segments most favored by institutional capital.
