Haun Ventures, the venture capital firm founded by former federal prosecutor Katie Haun, has unveiled a new $1 billion fund dedicated to building the scaffolding for the next-generation financial system. The announcement marks a strategic shift from the firm's previous $1.5 billion funds raised in March 2022, which were almost exclusively focused on crypto and Web3 startups.

Three Core Investment Pillars

Katie Haun, founder and CEO, described the current period as the most dynamic she has witnessed in technology and finance, stating that “the foundations of capital, commerce, and trust are undergoing meaningful structural changes.” The new fund will deploy capital across three key areas:

First, services for new financial infrastructure. This includes reimagining payments, banking, capital markets, custody, and foreign exchange, using crypto and other technologies as building blocks. Startups building the “plumbing” of the future financial system are the primary targets.

Second, new assets and markets. Tokenization takes center stage here, encompassing stablecoins, digitization of commodities like gold and oil on-chain, as well as prediction markets. Haun believes that bringing traditional assets onto distributed ledgers will unlock unprecedented liquidity and efficiency.

Third, the agentic economy. As artificial intelligence (AI) evolves, software agents will require new support layers. Haun sees opportunities to adapt current networks to fit an AI-led world, where autonomous agents execute transactions, manage assets, and interact with financial systems on behalf of users.

Shift from Pure Crypto to Broader Frontier

Unlike Haun Ventures' earlier funds that were heavily weighted toward crypto and Web3, the new $1 billion vehicle signals a broader thesis. Katie Haun noted that founders pursuing the biggest opportunities must “navigate complex regulatory environments” and simultaneously bridge the gap between emerging technology and established finance. The fund is designed to support those entrepreneurs who are earning the trust of institutions while building for the future.

The announcement comes at a time when venture capital interest in crypto and tokenization is rebounding. Haun's move underscores a growing belief that the convergence of AI, stablecoins, and tokenized assets will define the next phase of financial innovation. With $1 billion in new dry powder, Haun Ventures is positioning itself as a major backer of the infrastructure that could underpin the financial system of tomorrow.
