The Hong Kong Monetary Authority on Nov. 2 announced four fintech measures spanning agentic finance, post-quantum cryptography, tokenized settlement and cross-border payments, according to a Hong Kong government press release cited by Techub News. The package includes the launch of SAGE, a governance initiative for agentic finance, alongside a discussion paper on banks’ use of agentic artificial intelligence. The HKMA also said it had worked with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology to roll out a post-quantum cryptography, or PQC, toolkit. On tokenization, the EnsembleTX project has completed 24x7 real-value transactions using tokenized deposits, and the authority plans to extend testing to regulated stablecoins. Separately, the HKMA and Cyberport launched tConnect Launchpad. The Faster Payment System is also expected to connect with UnionPay International by the end of 2026, enabling QR-code payments at more than 100 million merchants. HKMA Chief Executive Eddie Yue said the authority would push responsible innovation and cyber defense.
