BlockBeats reported on Sept. 7 that page data on X shows a suspected official account and token contract for Hunter Biden’s new meme coin project, $LAPTOP, have been made public.
The account is named Laptop with the handle @Laptoptoken. It is also followed by Hunter Biden’s official Twitter account. Its bio reads 「Coming to @base September 9」 and includes a related token contract address, matching details disclosed earlier.
Earlier report said the token would launch on Base on Sept. 9
The update comes after a previous report by The Wall Street Journal said Hunter Biden, son of former U.S. President Joe Biden, was preparing to launch a meme coin tied to his 「laptop」 episode. The report said the token, trading under the ticker $LAPTOP, was planned to launch on Coinbase’s Base network on Sept. 9.
According to people cited in that earlier report, the token’s total supply would be 1 billion. The founding team, including Hunter Biden, would hold 30% of that amount, with those tokens locked for six months and vested over two years.
Another 20% would be distributed in two rounds to investors who previously bought Trump meme coin $TRUMP at a loss, as well as Hunter Biden’s Substack subscribers and others.
Burn and donation mechanism was also outlined
The project also planned to burn as much as 30% of the token supply depending on the outcome of 30 preset events. Those events include Democrats winning the 2028 U.S. presidential election, Bitcoin setting a new all-time high, and $LAPTOP’s fully diluted valuation exceeding that of $TRUMP.
If those targets are not met, the corresponding share of tokens would instead be donated to charities.
BlockBeats warns users to stay cautious
BlockBeats said the information disclosed so far remains community speculation and has not been officially confirmed. It warned users not to interact with unfamiliar links and to protect their assets.
