Hunter Biden said in an interview with Bitcoin Magazine that he launched the $LAPTOP token to regain control of his narrative and build an asset centered on community. He also shared his view on Bitcoin (BTC), saying the token was built around transparency and a different economic model, with the founder retaining 30% of the supply. He said that structure was meant to set the project apart from token efforts linked to the Trump family, while also helping him rebuild his public image.
$LAPTOP fell sharply after launch
Biden said the main purpose of issuing $LAPTOP was to redefine his public image and create a community-based asset. After launch, however, the token dropped about 98%.
He blamed the decline on insufficient market-maker liquidity. He also said a planned listing on a centralized exchange was halted after the project faced market skepticism.
He says he has no party alignment
When asked about his political stance, Biden denied lobbying Democrats on cryptocurrency policy while President Biden was still in office. He criticized the political polarization around the crypto industry and said he wants Democrats to drop their bias and recognize the innovative value of blockchain.
He added that he is a believer in decentralized money and described Bitcoin as digital gold.
Token structure and comparison with Trump family projects
According to the interview, the $LAPTOP token structure allocates 20% to unconditional community airdrops, 30% to a prediction-market mechanism, and 30% to the founder. Biden used that structure to contrast his project with the token strategy of World Liberty Financial, a company tied to the Trump family, and said his own project is more transparent.
Bitcoin target of $220,000 by 2028
Biden also criticized the traditional banking industry for what he called a double standard on crypto, saying banks accuse the sector of being an illegal tool while repeatedly being linked to financial scandals themselves.
He predicted that Bitcoin would reach $220,000 in 2028. The report said he did not provide specific analytical data or technical indicators during the interview to support that valuation target.
