Indian women are stepping into crypto investing at a rising pace. A survey by CoinSwitch, released ahead of International Women's Day 2026, found that 85% of Indian women plan to invest in cryptocurrency in the near future. Among them, 62% said they are "very likely" to invest within the next 6 to 12 months, 23% are "somewhat likely," and only 3% expressed disinterest. The poll covered 1,000 women across India, signaling a broadening acceptance of digital assets among female demographics.
Millennials and Mid-Career Women Dominate
Age-wise, women aged 25–34 made up 43% of respondents, and those 35–44 accounted for 28% — a combined 71% from the millennial and early mid-career bracket. Professionally, 34% work in the private sector, while 28% are homemakers, the second-largest group. Another 18% are self-employed or freelancers, and 9% work in government. Notably, 57% of women make their crypto investment decisions independently; only 8% consult professional advisors, and 18% rely on friends or family.
Cautious Allocation, Bitcoin Is the Favorite
Despite strong intent, Indian women crypto investors remain risk-averse. Nearly 60% allocate less than 5% of their monthly income to crypto, treating it as a diversification tool rather than a primary savings vehicle. When choosing coins, 56% prefer Bitcoin, and 27% opt for altcoins. Data from CoinDCX shows that women typically hold a portfolio of about four cryptocurrencies, picking well-known names like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Polygon, Solana, XRP, Cardano, Dogecoin, and Avalanche — a clear sign of diversified, mainstream-focused exposure.
From Corporates to Households: A Broadening Base
The survey illustrates a shift beyond the traditional tech-savvy investor. Homeowners represent over a quarter of respondents, and students and freelancers each account for around 15%. This suggests crypto adoption in India is moving into smaller cities and domestic settings. CoinSwitch analysts attribute the growth to improved financial literacy among women, easier access to trading platforms, and a growing desire for financial independence.
