The court said the operation used 105 merchants across 10 third-party payment companies and processed more than 2.95 billion yuan in settlement value. Ma was sentenced to four years and six months in prison and fined 3 million yuan. Five defendants who were arrested later were also convicted of illegal business operations and received prison terms ranging from three to six years.
