Iran to Allow Some Iraqi Tankers Through the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian Media Says

Iran has decided to allow some Iraqi tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian media reported. During Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf’s visit to Iraq, one of Baghdad’s key requests was special permission for Iraqi-owned tankers to transit the waterway. The report said Iraq had raised the request multiple times through several channels before Iran made its decision. It also said Iran reached the decision despite what it described as the most severe military action against the country and a seriously deteriorating security situation in the Strait of Hormuz, which it linked to U.S. hostility.
