Odaily reported, citing Jinshi, that Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Baghaei said the statement that “Iran is a superpower” is not merely a slogan. According to his remarks, Iran defeated two nuclear powers in “this war,” and other countries were also supporting those two nuclear powers.
Baghaei stressed that Iran was not shouting slogans, saying instead that the country is a “true superpower.” In the same remarks, he linked Iran’s national status directly to the outcome of the war, describing the opposing side as including both the two nuclear powers and the other countries that supported them.
He also acknowledged that Iran had been hurt by its enemies, saying many lives had been taken and that the country had been left with wounds. Baghaei ended the statement with the phrase, “a wounded lion is still a lion,” using it to frame Iran’s losses and trauma alongside his assertion of the country’s resilience and standing.
