Odaily reported, citing CCTV International News, that Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesperson for Iran’s parliamentary National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said in a recent interview that the Lebanon ceasefire issue is a red line for Iran. According to Rezaei, Iran will not step back on matters related to that issue. His remarks placed the Lebanon ceasefire question within Iran’s broader foreign-policy position and framed it as an area where Tehran says it will not make concessions.
Tehran describes ties with Washington as hostile
On relations between Iran and the United States, Rezaei said Iran does not trust the United States and will not normalize relations with it. He stressed that Iran and the United States are currently in a hostile state, and that Iran is preparing for “a possible another war.” Rezaei said: “We do not believe what the Americans say, but act based on our own considerations.”
At the same time, Rezaei said Iran is also using negotiation and diplomacy as options, and will continue to hold talks with the United States. The comments present Iran’s position as one that combines a hard line toward Washington with the continuation of diplomatic engagement.
