Iranian Revolutionary Guard spokesperson Hossein Mohbi said Iran and Oman reached mutually acceptable results after talks held about a month ago over the Strait of Hormuz, including each country’s share of the waterway and how revenue would be divided. Mohbi said the strait is currently under Iran’s control and that no hostile warships are present in the Persian Gulf. He also said no vessel can pass through the waterway without Iran’s permission and management from the standpoint of military and territorial jurisdiction. According to Mohbi, the United States is interfering in the process, which has delayed follow-up work. He added that if Washington does not accept Iran’s conditions, the Strait of Hormuz will not be opened. The remarks were carried by Odaily, citing Jin10.
Odaily reported that Hossein Mohbi, a spokesperson for Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, described the latest situation in the Strait of Hormuz by saying the waterway is "currently under our control" and that there are "no hostile warships" in the Persian Gulf.
Mohbi said that, from the perspective of military and territorial jurisdiction, no vessel can pass through the strait without Iran’s permission and under Iranian management.
He also said the Strait of Hormuz belongs to Iran and Oman, which lies across the water from Iran. About a month ago, Iran began negotiations with Oman and reached what he called a result acceptable to both sides.
According to Mohbi, the talks produced some agreements on the share of the strait’s waters held by each country and the share of revenue that Iran and Oman would receive from it.
Mohbi said the United States is interfering in the process and that this has delayed the related work. He added that if the U.S. does not accept Iran’s conditions, the Strait of Hormuz will "never be opened."
