Large BTC Transfer Details
According to data from Arkham, approximately 500 BTC (worth $30.85 million) was transferred about half an hour ago from an address associated with Irish drug trafficker Clifton Collins to Coinbase Prime Custody. This marks the latest in a series of large fund movements from the address.
Background of the Funds and History
Clifton Collins accumulated over $400 million in Bitcoin, part of which was later seized by police. Recent significant outflows from his related addresses include: ~$35.44 million BTC seized by Irish police and moved to Coinbase Custody on March 24; ~$38.19 million BTC moved to addresses linked to Wintermute / Binance on May 19; and now ~$30.85 million BTC moved to Coinbase Prime Custody. In total, over $100 million in related funds have been disposed of or transferred in the past three months.
Law Enforcement Actions and Asset Seizures
These transfers demonstrate progress in law enforcement's ability to recover crypto crime assets. By leveraging on-chain tracking, police have identified Collins' crypto holdings and gradually moved them into compliant custody (e.g., Coinbase Custody) or exchanges for seizure or liquidation. Such cases highlight the crucial role of blockchain analytics in combating financial crime, while also reminding crypto users to ensure the legitimacy of their asset sources.
