Jack Yi, a well-known crypto investor, has nearly emptied his Trend Research ETH position after four days of steep market decline. At its peak, the fund held 645,000 ETH, worth over $1.8 billion. Now just 21,300 ETH remain — a 96% reduction. Meanwhile, his wife Joy Lou tweeted a bold prediction: "Within two weeks, let's see if the US stock market triggers a circuit breaker." The contrast has set the crypto community abuzz.

Jack Yi: Bullish Call Followed by Massive Dump

On February 3, Yi posted an optimistic outlook, claiming ETH would hit $10,000 and BTC over $200,000, calling it "the best buying window." But as prices fell, Trend Research began transferring ETH to Binance to cut losses. Between February 1 and 4, they sold 153,500 ETH at an average price of $2,294, netting $352 million. Additional transfers of 20,000 and 30,000 ETH followed. The fund had built its ETH position via Aave, borrowing up to $958 million in stablecoins at the peak.

Joy Lou: Bearish on US Stocks

Joy Lou, founder of quant fund Tokenmania managing over 40,000 BTC, comes from a finance family. On February 6, while Yi was still selling, she tweeted her circuit-breaker forecast. Her macro-driven view clashes directly with her husband's persistent bullishness.

Community Reacts: "One of Them Has to Be Wrong"

Crypto KOL AB Kuai.Dong quipped: "One of them has to bite the dust! Yi keeps holding and buying the dip, Lou bets on a US crash." Many note that if US stocks do trigger a circuit breaker, crypto could face another wave of cascading liquidations. Yi later admitted he "always can't help being bullish" and tried to bottom-fish at BTC $100K and ETH $3K, only to catch a falling knife.
