Japan’s Financial Services Agency said its Financial Services Users Consultation Office received 1,961 consultations tied to fraudulent investment solicitations involving investment products and cryptocurrencies during the quarter from April 1 to June 30, 2026. Of those, 1,616 were confirmed to have resulted in monetary losses, meaning more than 80% of the reported cases caused financial damage. The agency said the office handled 15,418 consultations in total during the same period. Within that figure, 1,374 consultations were related to cryptocurrencies and similar matters, down 92 from the previous quarter. The office also processed 9,835 consultations connected to chatbots.
