Metaplanet Inc. announced today the purchase of an additional 2,205 Bitcoin at an average price of ¥15.64 million per coin, for a total cost of ¥34.487 billion. This brings the company’s total Bitcoin holdings to 15,555 BTC, with a cumulative cost basis of ¥225.818 billion and an average purchase price of ¥14.52 million per Bitcoin. The acquisition underscores Metaplanet’s aggressive Bitcoin accumulation strategy.
“555 Million Plan” Replaces Previous Target
Metaplanet unveiled its new “555 Million Plan,” targeting the accumulation of 210,000 BTC by the end of 2027—equivalent to 1% of Bitcoin’s total supply. This supersedes the earlier “21 Million Plan,” which aimed for 21,000 BTC by 2026. The new plan signals the company’s heightened conviction in Bitcoin as a treasury asset and its ambition to become a leading corporate holder globally.
BTC Yield Continues Strong Performance
Metaplanet’s proprietary KPI, BTC Yield (bitcoin per fully diluted share), increased by 15.1% quarter-to-date, resulting in a BTC Gain of 2,017 and a corresponding ¥ Gain of ¥31.78 billion. This metric demonstrates the company’s ability to efficiently deploy capital to increase Bitcoin exposure and enhance shareholder value.
Capital Actions and Compliance Disclosures
Metaplanet also reported that 8.1 million new shares were issued from July 1 to July 4, 2025, through the exercise of the 20th Series of Stock Acquisition Rights. Proceeds funded a partial early redemption of ¥6 billion from a ¥30 billion bond issued to EVO FUND. In June, 540,000 units of the 20th Series were exercised into 54 million shares, representing 29.19% of the 1.85 million total rights issued. The overall exercise ratio was 8.99%, within Tokyo Stock Exchange limits. The initial exercise price was ¥1,388, adjusted according to the company’s pricing method.
