According to MarsBit, the well-known Ethereum MEV bot address Jaredfromsubway.eth suffered a targeted “anti-MEV honeypot attack,” with losses exceeding $7.5 million. The address has been described as one of the most profitable MEV bots, but in this incident the automated trading system that normally hunts for on-chain opportunities became the target of a designed trap.
The attack focused on the bot’s automated execution behavior. The attacker deployed 66 fake contracts and liquidity pools that were disguised as mainstream assets, creating an on-chain setup that could lure the bot into executing transactions. During that process, the bot was induced to approve permissions, after which the attacker used backdoors in the contracts to steal assets.
MEV refers to value that can be extracted from blockchain transaction ordering and execution, and MEV bots rely on automated strategies to capture such opportunities on-chain. The incident involving Jaredfromsubway.eth was not simply about market price movement; it targeted behavioral logic and approval flows, showing that even leading MEV robots face security threats at the logic layer.
