PANews reported on Oct. 2 that BTC.TOP founder Jiang Zhuoer said in a post on X that the amount of ETH waiting to exit staking had climbed to 850,000 ETH, while the estimated wait time rose to 14.77 days. He said both figures were the highest seen in 2026 and initially interpreted the move as a sign that some long-term holders believed the current price was high enough to justify selling and locking in profits.
Jiang later issued a correction. In the follow-up post, he said the surge in ETH exiting proof-of-stake staking was caused by an attack on MetaMask infrastructure. He added that withdrawal private keys were not affected, but validator private keys might face risk, meaning users would need to withdraw and stake again.

PANews reported on Oct. 2 that Jiang Zhuoer, founder of BTC.TOP mining pool, said in a post on X that 850,000 ETH were waiting to exit staking, with the queue time extending to 14.77 days. He said both figures marked the highest level in 2026.
In his initial post, Jiang said the numbers suggested that some coin holders saw the current price as relatively high and wanted to sell to lock in profits.
Jiang later revised the explanation
He later posted a correction, saying: "The surge in ETH exiting PoS staking happened because MetaMask infrastructure was attacked. Withdrawal private keys are fine, but validator private keys may be at risk, so funds need to be withdrawn and staked again."
