On June 23, 2026, Korean payment platform KG Inicis announced that it will introduce stablecoin payments to the Solana blockchain and has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Solana Foundation. KG Inicis processes over 25 trillion Korean won in annual transactions. The partnership aims to leverage its existing payment infrastructure and merchant network to bring digital asset payments on-chain.

According to the cooperation plan, the platform will also launch a token-based merchant reward mechanism to incentivize adoption of stablecoin payments. Stablecoins, which are pegged to fiat currencies, offer price stability suitable for everyday transactions. Solana is known for its high throughput and low fees, providing a technical foundation for stablecoin payments.

Currently, major Korean payment firms are accelerating efforts to explore stablecoin use in real-world payment scenarios. The collaboration with Solana is seen as a key strategic move by KG Inicis in the on-chain payment space, pushing traditional finance further into the blockchain ecosystem.
