Korea Investment Corporation (KIC), South Korea’s sovereign wealth fund, has disclosed its first investment in stablecoin issuer Circle. Data filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission showed that, as of the second quarter of 2026, KIC held 65,443 Circle shares worth about $4.099 million, or roughly KRW 5.83 billion. The filing also showed broader portfolio changes across KIC’s crypto-related U.S. equity holdings. Before adding Circle, KIC already held positions tied to the digital asset sector through Strategy, Coinbase, Block, Robinhood, and Riot Platforms. During the second quarter, KIC reduced its positions in Strategy, Coinbase, and Riot Platforms, while increasing its holdings in Block and Robinhood. The total value of KIC’s related U.S.-listed holdings rose from $132 million in the first quarter to $168 million in the second quarter, a 27% increase. By company, Strategy fell from $10.61 million to $7.17 million, down 32%, while Coinbase dropped from $52.99 million to $36.93 million, down 30%. Block climbed from $17.25 million to $27.34 million, up 58%, and Robinhood increased from $45.88 million to $87.96 million, up 92%. Riot Platforms rose from $4.95 million to $8.42 million, up 70%.

South Korea’s sovereign wealth fund, Korea Investment Corporation (KIC), has made its first disclosed investment in stablecoin issuer Circle, according to a BlockBeats report published on Aug. 13.

Data disclosed by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) showed that, as of the second quarter of 2026, KIC held 65,443 shares of Circle with a position valued at about $4.099 million, or roughly KRW 5.83 billion.

Circle added to KIC’s crypto-related holdings

Before the Circle position appeared, KIC’s crypto-linked equity holdings included Strategy, Coinbase, Block, Robinhood, and Riot Platforms. The latest filing places Circle on that list for the first time.

Second-quarter portfolio shifts

During the second quarter of 2026, KIC cut its holdings in Strategy, Coinbase, and Riot Platforms, while increasing its positions in Block and Robinhood. The total value of its related U.S. stock holdings rose from $132 million in the first quarter to $168 million in the second quarter, an increase of 27%.
