Kimmo Siren, head of product at Lens and co-founder of Orb, said Farcaster’s more important issue is not who might take over, but how the protocol can reach a stage where it no longer depends on a single long-term operator. In his view, a fully decentralized social protocol should let any client read, write, replay, and verify the full historical record without having to trust one team that runs storage infrastructure or controls validator keys. Siren said improving infrastructure such as Ethereum blobs and EIP-4844 could make it possible to write social data in low-cost batches, let anyone re-host that data, and verify it through on-chain commitments. He said the goal is to build a social state on-chain that is reproducible and verifiable, so the network itself can keep existing even if the management team changes.

Kimmo Siren, head of product at Lens and co-founder of Orb, said Farcaster’s bigger issue is not 「who takes over」 but whether the protocol can evolve to a point where it no longer relies on a single long-term operator.

According to Siren, a complete decentralized social protocol should allow any client to directly read, write, replay, and verify the full history, without trusting a single team responsible for storage infrastructure or validator keys.

He said that as infrastructure such as Ethereum blobs and EIP-4844 matures, social data can be written in low-cost batches, re-hosted by anyone, and verified through on-chain commitments.

Siren said he wants to build a reproducible and verifiable on-chain social state so that even if the management team changes, the social network itself can continue to exist.
