According to ChainCatcher, South Korean payment platform KG Inicis has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with the Solana Foundation to introduce stablecoin payments to the Solana blockchain. KG Inicis processes over 25 trillion KRW in annual transactions and is a major player in the Korean payment space. This partnership will leverage KG Inicis' existing payment infrastructure and extensive merchant network to drive digital asset payments on-chain.
In the future, the platform plans to launch a token-based merchant reward mechanism to further incentivize merchants to accept digital asset payments. Currently, major Korean payment companies are actively exploring the application of stablecoins in real payment scenarios. This collaboration with Solana is widely seen as a key move in the on-chain payment sector, marking a significant step for the Korean fintech industry in blockchain payments. Through this partnership, KG Inicis will be able to offer more efficient stablecoin payment services via the Solana network, expanding the use of digital assets in everyday Korean commerce.
