Kraken has adopted Chainlink CCIP for kBTC, citing ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type 2 security standards. Chainlink data also showed more than 282,000 active addresses on the network, while LINK rose 4.7% over 24 hours.

Kraken has adopted Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol, or CCIP, for its wrapped-asset infrastructure, with kBTC named as the first token in the rollout. Chainlink said the integration will allow Kraken’s wrapped tokens to be distributed more securely across blockchains and global markets. The announcement came as LINK rose 4.7% over the past 24 hours and network activity moved higher.

Security standards drove Kraken’s CCIP decision

Kraken executives said the exchange selected Chainlink CCIP because of its enterprise-focused infrastructure and its fit with strict risk management requirements. The protocol carries ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type 2 security certifications, which Kraken linked to its own security-first operating approach. Chainlink’s architecture also relies on a network of 16 independent nodes, a design intended to remove single points of failure and improve the safety of cross-chain transfers.

That framing matters. For wrapped assets, cross-chain movement is not only a product feature but also a custody and infrastructure issue, so Kraken placed the emphasis on certifications, network design, and operational resilience rather than broad market claims.

kBTC is the first wrapped token in the rollout

According to the companies’ statement, CCIP will initially support the secure distribution of kBTC across multiple chains. Kraken said the partnership is aimed at expanding wrapped-asset use cases inside DeFi and speeding up global crypto adoption. The upgraded setup is also expected to strengthen protection for existing assets held by clients while making it easier to move future wrapped tokens between blockchains.

In a joint statement, the two sides said the partnership is intended to support wider and more secure use of wrapped assets across the DeFi ecosystem. Kraken also told kBTC holders that no action is required from users because of the integration. Any transition details and future updates, the exchange said, will be shared through official channels.

Chainlink activity climbs as active addresses top 282,000

Alongside the integration news, Chainlink’s on-chain figures have also drawn attention. Blockchain data cited in the report showed more than 282,000 active addresses on the network, the highest user count seen in the past eight months. On the price side, LINK added 4.7% in 24 hours, tracking growing attention on interoperability protocols and cross-chain infrastructure.

Based on the information released so far, the Kraken-Chainlink tie-up centers on a narrow but important objective: raising the security standard for wrapped assets moving across chains, starting with kBTC. Kraken said additional developments will be communicated through its official channels.
