Kraken has listed Reddit community tokens MOON and BRICK for both spot and futures trading, pushing these subreddit-based assets back into the spotlight. Both tokens come from Reddit’s Community Points initiative, launched in 2020 to turn user activity inside online communities into onchain rewards that can be held, transferred, and traded.
Reddit’s move beyond karma
Reddit, founded in 2005 by Steve Huffman and Alexis Ohanian, has long relied on its karma system to reflect reputation and content quality. Karma signals status inside the platform, but it does not carry direct monetary value. Community Points changed that model. Reddit Community Points, or RCPs, are cryptocurrencies that can function inside a subreddit while also existing as market-traded digital assets.
Only a small number of communities adopted the model. The material identifies r/CryptoCurrency and r/FortNiteBR as the best-known examples, each issuing its own token tied to user participation.
BRICK and the Fortnite subreddit economy
BRICK is an ERC-20 token created for the r/FortNiteBR subreddit. Its name references Fortnite’s building mechanics, where bricks are used as in-game materials. In practice, BRICK is distributed as a reward for posts, comments, and other contributions in the subreddit. Users can store the token in Reddit’s Ethereum-based Vault wallet, tip others with it, trade it, or use it to unlock special features.
The source points to several factors behind BRICK’s value. It has utility inside the community, distribution is tied to contribution, and the token has a capped supply of 250 million. The subreddit itself has more than 2.7 million users. That combination creates a defined supply-and-demand structure. With Kraken adding the token, access now extends beyond Reddit participants.
MOON as the flagship token of r/CryptoCurrency
MOON has gained wider recognition in crypto circles. It is also an ERC-20 token and is used to reward quality contributions in r/CryptoCurrency. According to the source material, more than 121 million MOON have been distributed since launch. Current circulating supply stands at 107 million, with a valuation of about $43 million.
Its role goes past price metrics. MOON ties posting, discussion, and shared knowledge to a tokenized reward structure. That turns community participation into something measurable onchain and tradable in the market, instead of leaving it as a platform-native reputation score.
Why the market is watching subreddit tokens
MOON and BRICK show how online points systems can evolve into assets with real monetary value. The source notes that these tokens can be traded, sold, and exchanged for other cryptocurrencies, and even fiat. That changes the meaning of participation inside digital communities. What used to be an internal signal of engagement can now move across wallets, exchanges, and markets.
Kraken’s support for spot and futures trading gives both tokens a broader market structure. For traders outside Reddit, MOON and BRICK are no longer just community reward instruments. They are assets that can be bought, held, and priced by the market. Their development offers a clear example of how platform incentives, community contribution, and blockchain-based ownership can intersect.
