According to a Techub News report citing Cointelegraph, Payward Services – the operator behind cryptocurrency exchange Kraken – plans to launch a tokenized IPO service within the next few weeks. The product will be accessible via Kraken and other member exchanges of the xStocks Alliance, enabling retail investors worldwide to take part in US stock initial public offerings without the need for a conventional brokerage account.
By distributing IPO allocations as on-chain tokens, the service streamlines the subscription process and sidesteps the extensive know‑your‑customer and asset verification requirements typical of traditional finance. Payward Services states that the initiative is designed to dismantle persistent geographic and capital‑threshold barriers, giving retail participants more equitable access to primary equity markets.
Notably, Kraken acquired Backed Finance – the operator of xStocks – in late 2025, a move that laid the technological and regulatory groundwork for this expansion into tokenized securities. By integrating Backed Finance's asset tokenization capabilities, Kraken is accelerating the convergence of legacy stock markets and the crypto ecosystem, further blurring the line between traditional finance and digital assets.
