KuCoin EU has launched a MiCAR-compliant crypto platform across 29 EEA markets under Austria FMA supervision, offering regulated services including spot trading, EUR deposits and withdrawals, and custody.

KuCoin EU has launched a fully MiCAR-compliant crypto platform for users across 29 markets in the European Economic Area. The company said the platform operates under a Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) licence within the EU framework and is supervised by Austria’s Financial Market Authority, with the entity headquartered in Vienna.

CASP licence and FMA supervision define the operating structure

According to KuCoin EU, the platform was built specifically around European regulatory standards while targeting retail crypto users. The company said its authorised activities include custody and administration of crypto-assets, crypto-to-fiat and crypto-to-crypto exchange services, placing of crypto-assets, and transfer services carried out on behalf of clients.

KuCoin EU also drew a clear line around what it does not do. The company said it is not the operator of a crypto-asset trading platform and does not provide investment advice. That wording reflects the tighter boundaries firms are drawing as MiCAR expands requirements around licensing, disclosures, and market conduct.

Vienna launch event framed the business as Europe-focused

The platform was officially unveiled on January 28, 2026 at a VIP Gala held at Vienna’s Spanish Riding School. KuCoin EU said the live launch on stage was led by Managing Directors Christian Niedermueller, Sabina Liu, and Audrey Lim.

KuCoin CEO BC Wong said the rollout fits the company’s compliance-first global strategy. He stated that Austria was chosen as the home of KuCoin EU because of its clear and forward-looking regulatory framework, which he said gives the business a strong base for operating responsibly and sustainably across Europe.

Christian Niedermueller said the team spent the past months designing a platform that fully meets Europe’s regulatory expectations while still delivering the performance, reliability, and user experience expected by modern crypto users. He described the public launch as a milestone, but also as the beginning of a longer buildout. Sabina Liu said Europe is one of the world’s most sophisticated financial markets and that KuCoin EU was built from day one to match that standard through local leadership and a region-specific operating model.

Spot trading, EUR rails, and local support come first

At launch, KuCoin EU said users can access spot trading, EUR deposits and withdrawals, and local customer support, along with campaigns and features designed for Europe. The company added that more products and services are expected to be introduced in phases over the coming months.

KuCoin EU also said the platform is available across the EEA except Malta, pointing to the fact that jurisdiction-specific differences still remain even under a unified regulatory regime.

The announcement included the naming of KuCoin’s new global brand partner, cyclist Tadej Pogačar, described by the company as a four-time Tour de France winner. KuCoin linked the partnership to values such as performance, discipline, and long-term excellence, following earlier partnerships with Adam Scott and Tomorrowland.

The launch lands as large crypto brands continue to build EU-specific structures under MiCAR. In KuCoin EU’s case, the immediate focus is clear: regulated spot services, EUR rails, local support, and a licensed setup built for cross-border access inside the EEA.
