Ledger integrates perpetual futures trading via Hyperliquid and Yield.xyz, allowing users to trade directly from self-custodial hardware wallets without transferring funds. Initial rollout covers ~20% of users, excluding US, UK, France, Belgium, and Ontario.

Ledger has officially added perpetual futures trading to its hardware wallet ecosystem. The feature lets users access Hyperliquid's onchain derivatives markets directly from their devices, without moving assets off the wallet. The integration is powered by Yield.xyz, a non-custodial API provider that already supports Ledger's staking and earn products.

Rollout Details: ~20% of Users First

The feature is being rolled out in phases. Initially, about 20% of existing users in select regions will get access. Restricted jurisdictions include the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, and Ontario. JF Rochet, Executive Vice President of Consumer Services at Ledger, said: "With the launch of Perpetual Trading in Ledger Wallet, we're bringing hardware-grade security to one of crypto's fastest-growing segments." He emphasized that users can trade using their self-custodial wallets without compromising control of their assets.

Yield.xyz as an Infrastructure Aggregator

Yield.xyz aggregates access to onchain financial activities — staking, lending, and vault strategies. Through the Ledger integration, a widget enables clear-signed operations, reducing reliance on blind signing and improving transaction transparency. Hyperliquid, currently the largest onchain derivatives venue by volume, serves as the execution layer. Yield.xyz claims its API covers a large share of DeFi protocols, positioning it as a single gateway for wallets and custodians seeking multiple yield and trading sources.

Why Hardware-Based Trading Matters

Most perpetual futures trading occurs on centralized exchanges or browser-based wallets, both of which carry security risks. Ledger's approach executes trades while assets remain secured on a hardware device. Users can open leveraged positions without funding an external platform, addressing the long-standing trade-off between security and functionality in crypto trading.

Broader DeFi Infrastructure Trends

This integration reflects a shift toward modular infrastructure — wallets, APIs, and liquidity venues combine to deliver full trading functionality without centralized intermediaries.
